FAQ – Bike Racks and Accessories
Q: Is there a rack that will fit my bike?
A: Yes, there is a rack for almost every type of bike. However, several details need to be confirmed before choosing the right model: the weight of the bike (especially for e-bikes), the type (road, mountain, gravel, hybrid, fatbike), the number of bikes to transport, the presence of fenders, wheel size, planned travel distance, as well as the type of mount (hitch and its size, roof bars, or compatibility with a specific vehicle such as an RV). Our team will help you find the perfect solution.
Q: Is it safe to use my bike rack if I notice a slight wobble?
A: A small amount of movement is normal with hitch-mounted racks. However, if the wobble seems excessive, it may indicate an improper fit or the need for a stabilizing accessory. We can check and fix it in-store.
Q: Do your racks work with non-standard bike frames (step-through, kids’ bikes, full suspension)?
A: Yes. For certain frame types, we recommend adding a frame adapter bar to ensure a safe and optimal fit.
Q: Can I carry a carbon bike on your racks?
A: Yes, many rack models are designed to protect carbon frames with attachment systems that avoid direct pressure. Our staff will guide you to the most gentle option for your bike.
Q: Can I mount a roof bike rack on crossbars from another brand than Thule or Yakima?
A: Yes, most racks are compatible with OEM crossbars or other brands, as long as they follow standard dimensions. Stop by with your vehicle and we’ll confirm compatibility.
Q: Can I replace a lost key for my box or rack?
A: Yes, as long as you have the key number printed on the lock, we can order a replacement key.
Q: What should I do if my lock freezes in winter?
A: Use a lock de-icer or a suitable lubricant. Avoid hot water, which can make the problem worse. We also carry recommended winter maintenance products in-store.
Q: Can I use an adapter if my vehicle’s hitch is a different size than the rack?
A: Yes, adapters exist to convert from 1 ¼" to 2" or the other way around. However, always make sure to respect the load limits specified by the manufacturer.
