Q: Which roof box is right for my car?
A: That depends on several factors: the length of your vehicle’s roof, the type of crossbars installed, the load capacity of the roof rack system, the type of items you want to carry (skis, suitcases, stroller, camping gear), and how often you’ll use it. Our team uses compatibility guides and takes your needs into account to recommend the ideal box.

Q: Are roof cargo boxes waterproof?
A: Roof boxes are designed to protect your belongings from rain, snow, and road dirt. They perform very well in bad weather, but they are not 100% watertight under prolonged heavy rain or when going through a car wash. For sensitive items (electronics, delicate textiles), we recommend placing them in a dry bag inside the box.

Q: Can I mount a roof box on crossbars from a brand other than Thule or Yakima?
A: Yes, most roof boxes fit OEM crossbars from car manufacturers as well as bars from other brands, as long as they follow standard dimensions. We check compatibility in-store before installation.

Q: Can I replace the key for a roof box if I lost the original?
A: Yes, as long as you have the lock number engraved on the cylinder.

Q: What should I do if my roof box lock freezes in winter?
A: Use a lock de-icer or a silicone-based lubricant. Avoid hot water, which can refreeze and damage the lock. We also offer suitable maintenance products in-store.

Q: Does a roof box increase my fuel consumption?
A: Yes, a roof box creates additional air resistance, especially on highways. On average, you can expect:

• City driving: 2–8% increase
• Highway driving: 6–17% increase (sometimes up to 20% at high speeds)

To reduce the impact:

• Remove the box (and crossbars) when not in use.
• Drive at moderate speeds: the faster you go, the greater the resistance.
